How to Measure Your Windows for Blinds:
Ensuring your blinds fit perfectly starts with accurate measurements. Follow these simple steps to measure your windows correctly:
-
A steel measuring tape
A pencil and paper to jot down measurements
A step ladder (if necessary)
-
Measure the Width:
Measure the inside width of the window frame at the top, middle, and bottom.
Record the narrowest measurement to ensure the blind fits snugly.
Measure the Height (Drop):
Measure the inside height from the top to the sill on the left, centre, and right.
Record the longest measurement for optimal coverage.
Measure the Depth:
Ensure there's enough depth to accommodate the blind mechanism. Check the manufacturer's specifications for the required depth.
-
Measure the Width:
Measure the desired width of the blind, typically extending 50–100mm beyond the window frame on each side to minimise light gaps.
Measure the Height (Drop):
Measure from the top of where you want the blind to start (usually above the window frame) to the bottom of where you want it to end (often below the sill).
Consider Obstructions:
Check for any obstacles like window handles or mouldings that might affect the blind's operation and adjust measurements accordingly.
Final Step:
Once you've taken your measurements, write them down on the back of Dez’s business card and attach it to your order at the checkout. This ensures your blinds are cut precisely to your specifications.
